Girls Gone Hiking started in Utah in 2025 and is now expanding nationally. We operate through local chapters, each led by a trained ambassador who organizes events in their area. The Utah chapter is live now, with more states launching soon.
-
Head to our Find Your Chapter page to see active chapters and upcoming events in your area. If your state isn't live yet, join the waitlist and we'll notify you the moment we launch near you.
-
No memberships, no subscriptions. Sign up for our email list to stay in the loop, then RSVP for any event that interests you. Some events have a small fee to cover costs, which will always be listed upfront.
-
Absolutely. If you're traveling and there's an active GGH chapter nearby, you're welcome to join their events. Just RSVP through that chapter's event page the same way you would at home.
-
Each chapter is led by a local ambassador who knows her trails, her city, and her community. The GGH values — inclusivity, safety, all paces welcome — are consistent everywhere. The personality of each chapter is uniquely its own.
-
Get on our waitlist on the Find Your Chapter page and you'll be first to know when we launch near you. Or if you're feeling bold — apply to lead it yourself.
Chapters & How It Works
Events & RSVPs
-
Yes. All GGH events require advance registration through our website. Attendance is limited and managed carefully for safety, logistics, and a great group experience.
-
Friends are absolutely welcome — but each person must register individually. Unregistered guests cannot be added on-site.
-
Unfortunately you won't be able to participate. For safety, liability, and fairness reasons we can't allow walk-ins, even if space appears available.
-
Limits help us maintain trail safety, ensure proper waiver coverage, create a positive group experience, and respect land-use and parking restrictions.
-
Most hikes and community meetups are free unless otherwise noted. Some events may have a small fee to cover supplies, reservations, or venue costs. Details are always listed on the event page.
-
Please cancel your RSVP through the website or email us as soon as possible so another woman can take your spot. For capped events this is especially important.
-
Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes before start time. We use that time to check in, make introductions, and go over the route or plan before we head out.
-
Make sure you're signed up for our email list — that's where all event updates go. You can also follow us on Instagram @GirlsGoneHiking.USA and your local chapter page for real-time updates.
On the Trail
-
Every event listing includes difficulty, mileage, and elevation gain. Our community welcomes all fitness levels — just read the event details carefully so you know what to expect before you register.
-
Yes — and many women do. These events are built for connection. You don't need to know anyone to show up. That's kind of the whole point.
-
Dogs are welcome only on events where it's explicitly stated. Always check the event description before bringing your pup.
-
Our events are women-centered. Some events welcome friends and supportive partners when noted — check the event description for details.
-
Every event listing includes specific recommendations. In general — water, proper footwear, layers, snacks, sun protection, and any gear noted in the event description.
-
Safety comes first. If conditions become unsafe, we may modify, reschedule, or cancel the event. Updates will be sent via email and posted on our social channels.
-
Some trails require a parking fee or day pass. Each event listing will note if anything is required so you can plan ahead.
Ambassadors & Getting Involved
-
An ambassador is a woman who leads a GGH chapter in her state. She organizes local group hikes, builds community, and operates under the GGH brand with full support from our team. No guiding certification required — just reliability, good energy, and a genuine love for getting women outside.
-
Fill out the application on our Become an Ambassador page. Mel personally reviews every submission and will reach out if it's a good fit.
-
Yes! There are lots of ways to contribute — co-leading events, social media, photography, event planning, brand partnerships, and more. Head to our Get Involved page to see all the options.
-
We love meaningful partnerships. GGH reaches an engaged community of active women across the US and we're open to collaborating with brands that align with our values. Visit our Get Involved page and select "Brand or Business Partnership" in the form.
