Girls Gone Hiking Is Partnering with AFSP Utah — And Here Is Why It's Personal

Girls Gone Hiking story

This story references sexual assault, abuse, and suicide. If you need support, call or text 988.

Girls Gone Hiking is joining AFSP Utah for two fundraising events in 2026. This cause found me long before this partnership did.

I grew up around losses people did not know how to talk about. Later came my own experiences with assault, abuse, an abusive relationship, depression, suicide attempts, and losing my best friend to suicide.

Finding a way back

I did not find my way back all at once. I found it slowly — through the right resources, a PTSD diagnosis that finally gave language to what I had been carrying, and a community that said the quiet parts out loud.

I found trails. I found women who showed up for each other without needing a reason. I found Girls Gone Hiking — and it genuinely changed my life.

Girls Gone Hiking × AFSP Utah

AFSP supports research, training, advocacy, and people affected by suicide. In 2026 our community is participating in the Utah Construction Hike for Hope on May 30 and the Salt Lake City Out of the Darkness Walk on September 5.

Join our team, donate, or share the story. No one should have to face a mental health crisis alone.
