Why April Is the Best Time to Start Hiking in Utah

Girls Gone Hiking story

April in Utah is an in-between season, and that is exactly what makes it special. The biggest crowds have not arrived, lower-elevation trails are waking up, and cool mornings make steady climbing feel good.

Expect changing conditions. Pack layers, traction when the listing calls for it, more water than you think you need, and a willingness to turn around when mud or snow makes a trail vulnerable.

You do not need to wait until summer or until you feel perfectly prepared. Choose an honest trail level, come with the group, and let spring be your beginning.
