Uintas Weekend

Come basecamp with us in the Uintas.

We’ve reserved a group site right off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. Think pine forests, alpine lakes, trout fishing, and a sky full of stars. This is a self-directed camping weekend with optional group hikes, a community potluck, and zero pressure to do anything but exactly what you want.

Bring your tent, your crew, or just yourself. You’ll find your people here.

OPTIONAL GROUP HIKES

Mirror Lake

📍 Mirror Lake Trailhead off Highway 150 (~10 min drive from camp)

🥾 Easy · ~3 miles RT · minimal elevation gain · 1–1.5 hrs

One of the most iconic spots in the Uintas and for good reason. A flat, scenic loop around a stunning alpine lake with views of Bald Mountain reflecting off the water. Perfect for a morning stroll, a slow afternoon, or anyone who just wants beauty without the burn. Wildflowers peak in August and the photography here is unreal. ⚠️ Mirror Lake Highway Recreation Pass required ($6/vehicle, valid 3 days).

Ibantik Lake

📍 Crystal Lake Trailhead (~5 min drive from camp)

🥾 Moderate · ~9 miles RT · ~1,100 ft gain · 4–5 hrs

This one is the Uintas at their best. The trail winds past Wall Lake, Hope Lake, and a string of alpine ponds before climbing over Notch Pass, where the views open up in every direction. Descend the other side and you'll find Ibantik Lake sitting at the base of Notch Mountain, pale blue and impossibly clear. Keep your eyes open for mountain goats along the ridgeline. One of the most rewarding day hikes in the range.

⚠️ Same Mirror Lake Highway Recreation Pass covers this trailhead. Download offline maps, cell service drops on the byway.

Cataract Gorge

📍 Murdock Basin Road off Highway 150 (~20 min drive from camp)

🥾 Moderate · ~6.5 miles RT · ~1,130 ft gain · 3–3.5 hrs

A dramatic slot canyon carved by the Duchesne River, ending at a 100-foot waterfall tucked deep in the gorge. It's rugged, remote, and you're unlikely to run into many people out here. The pool section near the top of the gorge is stunning, crystal clear water dropping through stacked rock walls.

⚠️ High-clearance 4WD recommended to reach the trailhead (if you don't have it, park at Highway 150 and add ~4 miles RT on foot). Rocks near the waterfall are extremely slippery, tread carefully.
