Yes, it's spelled Cecret. No, that's not a typo. And yes, it's just as magical as it sounds.
We're heading up to Albion Basin at Alta Ski Area for a sunset hike to Cecret Lake β 4.5 miles of well-marked trail, gradual incline, and some of the best golden hour views in the Wasatch. This is a great one if you want a real hike without a brutal climb. π
What to Expect
Rocky dirt trail that's well-marked and easy to follow β no route-finding, no scrambling. A steady gradual climb takes you up through Albion Basin with views of Little Cottonwood Canyon opening up around you. You'll finish at Cecret Lake just in time for the light to do its thing. Wildflowers, canyon views, lake at the top. ποΈ
What to Bring
Water (at least 1-2L for a 2.5β3 hour hike)
Snack for the lake
Light jacket (Alta cools off fast once the sun drops)
Sturdy shoes β rocky terrain throughout
Parking Note: Free parking β we're parking before the fee station. Use the Summer Road shoulder or the lower Alta lot. No permit required.
