Cecret Lake to Hidden Peak β Hike Up, Tram Down
π
Date: July 18, 2026
β° Start Time: 7:30 AM
π Meeting Point: Snowbird Resort (carpool up to Cecret Lake Trailhead from there β details sent before the hike)
π₯Ύ Distance: 3.2 miles | ~1,900 ft elevation gain
β‘ Difficulty: Hard
π₯ Group Size: 8 participants
Hike up. Tram down. Views the whole way. This is the one you've been waiting for. π‘
We're starting at the Cecret Lake Trailhead in Albion Basin, hiking past Cecret Lake, climbing to the summit of Mt. Baldy, and finishing at Hidden Peak β where we'll grab a drink and ride the Snowbird Tram back down for free. 3.2 miles, ~1,900 feet of gain, and one of the best finishes of any hike in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
What to Expect
Well-maintained alpine trail through wildflower meadows and rocky ridgelines with sustained climbing from the start. You'll pass Cecret Lake before the real push begins β a steep ascent up Mt. Baldy with some light scrambling, then a final climb to Hidden Peak at Snowbird. Limited shade on the upper section, so start early and come prepared. The tram ride down is free and the views from the top are unreal. ποΈ
What to Bring
2β3L of water (sustained climb, limited shade)
Snack or light lunch for the summit
Layers β it's cold at Hidden Peak even in July
Sturdy hiking boots (rocky, uneven terrain + scrambling)
Sunscreen + sun hat
Camera. Seriously. πΈ
Logistics β read this one carefully:
Carpooling is required for this hike. Everyone parks at Snowbird Resort (free). Kristen and/or Sara will drive the group up to the Cecret Lake Trailhead to start. At the end, most people will already be at their cars at Snowbird β one person will shuttle anyone who needs a ride back from the trailhead. We'll sort details before the hike.
Parking: Free at Snowbird. Albion Basin parking is $12 (or America the Beautiful Pass). No permit required.
Dogs: No dogs allowed in Little Cottonwood Canyon πΎβ
