Aspens, bluebells, Solitude Mountain views, and a lake at golden hour. This is the one you'll want to show up for. π
Willow Lake Trail in the Willow Heights Conservation Area above Big Cottonwood Canyon is a 2.5-mile loop that's equal parts beautiful and manageable. Moderate incline on the way up, easy cruising on the way back down, and about half the trail is shaded β a rare win for a summer evening hike. We start at 5:30 PM and finish just as the light hits that sweet spot.
What to Expect
A loop trail through aspen groves and wildflower fields with views of Solitude Mountain opening up along the way. The first half climbs at a moderate pace; the second half is an easy walk back down. About 50β60% shaded β unusually comfortable for a summer evening. Moose are frequently spotted in this area, so keep your eyes open and give them plenty of space. π«
What to Bring
Water
Snack for the lake
Light jacket (Big Cottonwood Canyon cools off fast after sunset)
