Lake Pepin views, good birds, and even better company. The Frontenac Hiking Club Trail is a scenic mix of paved and dirt path with some hills thrown in — enough to feel like you earned it, not enough to wreck your Sunday.

This trail is part of the MN DNR Hiking Club, so if you're working on your club stamp, this one counts. Bonus: the birdwatching out here is genuinely great.

What to Expect
Rolling terrain with lake views, a mix of surfaces, and a few stairs along the way. Easy-to-moderate pace — accessible for most fitness levels with a little hustle on the hills.

What to Bring

  • Water

  • Sunscreen + bug spray (bugs are out there)

  • Snacks

  • Good attitude — the views will handle the rest 🙂

Logistics

  • Meet at the picnic area — follow the signs from the entrance

  • State park permit required: $7/day or $35 annual pass

  • Group capped at 8

  • No carpooling for this one
