Set your alarm. This one's worth it.
We're heading up to Albion Basin on June 24th at 6:30am for one of the most stunning morning hikes the Wasatch has to offer, crisp mountain air, wildflowers (fingers crossed for peak bloom), and maybe a moose sighting if we're lucky.
The Details
📍 Alta Ski Area: meet at the Alta-Brighton Trailhead (10351 UT-210, Alta, UT 84092)
📅 June 24 | ⏰ 6:30am start
🥾 ~3 miles | ~711 ft elevation gain | Moderate
⏱ About 2 hours (optional extension to Cecret Lake adds ~1 hour)
What to Expect Rocky dirt trail, well-marked and easy to follow. Wildflower season in Albion Basin is genuinely magical, we're timing this hike to catch it. Temps will be about 15 degrees cooler than the valley, so expect a crisp morning that warms up as you move. Wildlife alert: moose are known in this area. We'll cover group protocols at the trailhead.
What to Bring
Sturdy hiking shoes (trail runners or boots)
Layers / light jacket
Water + a snack for the drive home
Good vibes
A Few Notes
🚫 Not dog-friendly
Free parking in the lower Alta lot…park before the dirt road (no parking fee required at this lot)
No permit needed
Trail conditions are weather-dependent, we'll confirm closer to the date
Group size is limited to 4. Grab your spot now.
