π Meeting Point: Richard's Hollow Trailhead, Blacksmith Fork Canyon
π₯Ύ Distance: 3 miles out & back | 917 ft elevation gain
β‘ Difficulty: Moderate
π₯ Group Size: 6β8 participants
Forests, wildflower fields, creek crossings, and a waterfall at the end. This one's got it all β and it's only 3 miles. π§πΈ
Richard's Hollow in Blacksmith Fork Canyon (Cache Valley) is the kind of trail that surprises you. The scenery shifts the whole way β trees to open meadows to creeks β and finishes at a waterfall that makes the perfect turnaround spot. No-pressure pace, beautiful morning light, great company.
What to Expect
A steady, gradual climb through shaded forest that opens into wildflower fields before reaching the waterfall. Some small stream crossings along the way β nothing technical, just fun. Trail is natural and well-established, dry and in great shape. Lauren has personally hiked this one. Plan for 1.5β2 hours on trail at a comfortable, no-pressure pace.
Head's up: The beginning of the trail is shared with mountain bikers and occasional dirt bikers β stay aware for the first stretch, then it mellows out.
What to Bring
Water + snacks
Trail shoes with decent grip (stream crossings + natural terrain)
Light layers for the morning start
Parking: Free, but limited at the trailhead β carpooling is strongly encouraged. Lauren will help coordinate.
Dogs: Welcome on leash! πΎ
