Waking up at 4am for work? Hard pass. Waking up at 4am to summit the highest peak in the Wasatch? Let's go. ποΈ
Mount Nebo is the big one. At 11,877 feet, it's a full day in the mountains β 9 miles, 3,585 feet of gain, and a rocky summit ridge that earns every step. This is part of our Summit Series and it's not for the faint of heart. But if you've been waiting for a challenge that actually feels like an achievement? This is it.
What to Expect
A full-day alpine adventure that transitions from forested singletrack through wildflower meadows, steep mountain switchbacks, and a rocky high-alpine summit ridge. The trail is well-established throughout β the final stretch gets rocky and uneven with some light scrambling for balance, but nothing technical. Plan for 7.5β8.5 hours on trail. Start early to avoid afternoon thunderstorms β this is standard summit protocol and we take it seriously. βοΈ
What to Bring
2β3L of water (minimum)
Lunch + snacks (this is an all-day effort)
Rain jacket β non-negotiable at this elevation
Microspikes (may still be needed depending on snow conditions closer to July 18 β we'll update you)
Sturdy hiking boots
Layers + sun protection
Trekking poles recommended
Carpool & Logistics: The trailhead is about 2.5 hours from Salt Lake City. Lex has 4 spots in her car β she'll reach out after registration to coordinate carpooling. Getting an early start is essential for safety on this one.
Parking: Small free lot at the trailhead β fills up fast. Carpooling helps. No permit required.
Dogs: Welcome on this one! πΎ
